Energy Procurement

Suppliers of various wholesale energy products may present offers to Silicon Valley Clean Energy so that we can continue providing competitively priced, carbon free retail service. SVCE will issue Request for Offers (RFOs) when specific product needs arise.

2017 Request for Offers – Carbon Free Energy with Storage

SVCE, along with Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP), are soliciting offers for Carbon Free Energy with Storage.

The goal of this Joint RFO is for SVCE and MBCP to each enter into one or more long-term Power Purchase and Sale Agreements (PPAs) to secure up to 700 GWh per year of energy, combined, from Carbon Free generation facilities.  For Solar PV generating facilities to bid into this RFO, the offer must contain an Energy Storage Facility.

Offers are due on or before 5pm PPT Friday, October 13th, 2017 and short-listed Offerors will be notified in early November after approval by the SVCE or MBCP Board or both Boards, as applicable, for SVCE and MBCP to enter into contract negotiationsSVCE and MBCP may execute PPAs with selected participants at any time during the negotiation phase or may choose to execute none at all.

Community Power Purchase Program

We are currently designing a program to encourage the development of locally-based carbon free power plants by offering to enter into long term agreements to purchase this power.  We anticipate rolling it out in 2018.
