High School Students to Compete in Bike to the Future

Join us this Saturday, May 5, at Gilroy Gardens for Bike to the Future, an electric bike building scholarship competition! The event will kick off at 9 a.m., and seven high school teams will compete in a series of challenges throughout the day. The top three electric bikes will win scholarship prizes of $5,000, $3,500 and $2,000 for first, second and third place, respectively. This free event will also feature a clean commute fair where guests can learn about alternative transportation and test ride an electric bike. The first 100 guests at the event will receive a free ticket to Gilroy Gardens, good for the remainder of the season.

Students in the SVCE service area were invited to take part in this hands-on learning experience to connect design and engineering in a fun and unique way. Over the course of a few months, student teams were provided with $1,000 to explore and learn about electric bicycle technology by building their own e-bike from start to finish. Bike to the Future allows students to showcase their e-bike design, innovative engineering and school spirit. Come out to cheer on your local schools and support a clean energy future.

Best of luck to our teams from Alta Vista High School, Fremont High School, Los Altos High School, Milpitas High School, Mountain View High School, and Saratoga High School!
