SV Clean Energy Cuts Ribbon on New Downtown Sunnyvale Headquarters

Local electricity provider establishes a permanent space, reinforcing its commitment to the Santa Clara County community

Sunnyvale, Calif. – After nearly a decade of service, local electricity provider Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) calls 298 S Sunnyvale Ave. in downtown Sunnyvale, home. Yesterday, SVCE and the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce held a small celebration with the SVCE Board of Directors, staff and community leaders to mark the milestone and commemorate a renewed commitment to local service.

SVCE is a not-for-profit public agency, serving more than 280,000 residential and commercial customers across thirteen Santa Clara County communities with electricity from renewable and clean sources. SVCE has reinvested $350 million back into the community through on-bill savings, customer rebates, community grant projects, and more.

Located in the heart of Sunnyvale, the move establishes deeper roots and a stronger connection to the SVCE region.

“The idea for a community choice energy program for our region began in Sunnyvale,” said Sunnyvale Mayor and SVCE Board Chair Larry Klein. “So it is fitting that SVCE will continue to call our city home in its new downtown headquarters. SVCE’s programs, services and grants greatly benefit the communities of each partner agency. And their local presence will continue helping us decarbonize and move away from fossil fuels. When we reduce pollution, we improve the health and safety for all who live and work here.”

Beals Martin & Associates were the builders and contractors for the tenant improvements to the space. Cumming Management Group served as project manager and the building purchase was brokered by Newmark. SERA Design & Architecture designed the space to reflect both the foundational values and vision of SVCE as it continues its mission to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The energy-efficient building is equipped with modern, all-electric appliances, including heat pump water heaters and a central heat pump HVAC system.

The new headquarters marks an exciting new chapter in SVCE service while honoring almost a decade of trusted community service, innovative programs and offerings, and consistent local reinvestment.
