GreenPrime Electricity Receives Green-e Certification

Silicon Valley Clean Energy’s Premium 100% Renewable Product is Green-e Certified as of September 1

Sunnyvale, Calif. – GreenPrime, Silicon Valley Clean Energy’s (SVCE’s) 100% renewable energy option, is now certified by the nonprofit Center for Resource Solutions’ Green-e Energy program. Green‑e Energy is North America’s leading certification program for voluntary renewable energy sales. For twenty years, Green‑e Energy has certified renewable energy that meets the highest environmental and consumer protection standards. Green‑e Energy certification helps consumers make informed sourcing decisions, as certified products must meet requirements for quality and transparency.

“SVCE is proud to offer a 100% renewable, Green-e certified electricity generation service to our GreenPrime customers,” says SVCE Chair Rob Rennie. “We are honored to receive accreditation from the world’s leader in third party verification of energy products, and look forward to sharing the achievement with our GreenPrime customers.”

In particular, SVCE’s forward-thinking commercial customers encouraged independent third-party certification of SVCE’s premium GreenPrime product. The highly regarded Green-e certification assures customers that renewable energy is coming from qualified renewable sources, and is not being double-counted. Further, it enables commercial customers to realize other important benefits, such as LEED points and eligibility for the EPA’s Green Power Partnership program.

“We are excited that SVCE is offering its customers a Green-e Energy certified 100% clean energy product,” said Center for Resource Solutions Executive Director Jennifer Martin. “By sourcing electricity for GreenPrime from California solar and Washington wind, SVCE is helping the state reduce its dependence on fossil fuels by investing in clean generation for years to come.”

Green-e certified products are required to go through an annual verification process to ensure that the renewable electricity delivered to customers meets program requirements. Green-e advocates for the advancement of clean energy and the economic and environmental benefits it brings. For more information, see SVCleanEnergy.org/GreenPrime.
